WOLFMOTHER Is First Australian Act In 25 Years To Win Grammy
February 14, 2007Launch Radio Networks reports: Australian trio WOLFMOTHER issued a statement yesterday (Tuesday, February 13th) regarding its Grammy win for "Best Hard Rock Performance". The Sydney-based band became the first Australian act to win a Grammy in 25 years, with its single "Woman" beating out entries by established acts like TOOL, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, NINE INCH NAILS and BUCKCHERRY. The group said, "A Grammy was the last thing on our minds today. We really thought that was reserved for the permanent residents of the U.S.A. We're honored and we're overwhelmed. It's enormous!"
MEN AT WORK was the last Australian band to win a Grammy Award.
WOLFMOTHER is currently on the road in Europe but will begin a new North American trek on February 22 in Vancouver, Canada.
The group expects to begin recording its second album in the fall.
